About the Job

The U.S. Mission in Accra, Ghana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Mail Clerk. Work hours for this position is full time 40 hours per week.



Responsibilities

The mailroom clerk performs all functions of the mailroom, including but not limited to; ILMS pouch receiving and outgoing preparation, Diplomatic Mail receiving and outgoing preparation, and computerized mail management system data entry and tracking. As mailroom clerk, provide exceptional customer service to pouch and DPO users. Reports to Mailroom Supervisor.



Qualification

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • 2 years’ experience in a customer facing retail service environment is required.
  • Must have held a driver’s license for three years.
  •  Broad computer, telephone, and printer proficiency, to include Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook email and Internet Explorer. Must have good working knowledge of the city and environments, including driving routes and traffic patterns.
  • Post may choose to add the phrase “This may be tested” after a language, skill, and/or ability.  Review the VA template for specific information.
  • Fluent English (Speaking, reading, writing) is required.  Good working knowledge in Twi/Ga is required.  (Language proficiency will be tested).
  • Computer skills are required. Ability to type 25 WPM. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well and closely with U.S. and LE staff is required. Lift 50lbs. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to perform daily vehicle inspections. Must have ability to read road maps and plan routes. (Computer and Driving skills may be tested).
  • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
