Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC)


Director -Radiological and Medical sciences research institute is an integral part of the GAEC. The applicant must be not more than Fifty-five (55) years at the time of appointment.



Responsibilities

  • He/she will work closely with the Director-General (DG) in the formulation and implementation of policies
  • Managing, coordinating and steering relevant nuclear research programmes, projects and activities at local and international levels as may be directed by the DG.
  • Aid in developing expertise in the field of nuclear, radiological and medical sciences.
  • Initiating new research proposals in accordance with the international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) approved country programme framework for Ghana.
  • Setting goals of research activities within the institute in line with the policies of the GAEC.
  • Any other job that may be assigned by the Director General.

Qualification

  • A higher degree (PhD, DSc or DPhil) in nuclear sciences.
  • A minimum rank of principal research scientist/Associate professor.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience at a senior management level in a research institution or university.
  • Proven organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
  • The appointment is for 5 years in the first term, and it may be renewed for a second term subject to satisfactory performance.

  2. Written application including detailed curriculum vitae of the applicant with names and addresses of three referees
  3. Two (2) page vision statement
