About the Job

Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is seeking qualified person for the position of Assistant Secretary II (District Secretary). GNAT is the association for teachers teaching within the public sector in the pre-tertiary levels.



Responsibilities

  1. Recruits and mobilize members for the Association in the District
  2. Manages and administers the District Secretariat.
  3. Facilitates professional and Trade Union Education among members in the District
  4. Mobilizes members for non-bargaining activities
  5. Offers technical advice to the District Officers, Executive and council.
  6. Handles personal cases of Teachers
  7. Liaises with government and non-government institutions in the District
  8. Writes monthly, termly and annual reports to headquarters through the region
  9. Collects and analyses education statistics in the district
  10. Prepares monthly financial returns to headquarters through the region
  11. Keeps records and minutes of meetings of district political organs of GNAT
  12. serves on G.E.S district disciplinary committee
  13. performs any other function assigned by the General secretary, Regional secretary or the District executive


Qualification

  • The Applicant must be a professional teacher not below the rank of principal superintendent with not less than 4 years working experience o that rank.
  •  The Applicant must not be below 35 and not more than 45 years
  • Must have a commitment to GNAT and what the Union stands for
  • A working knowledge in basic computer applications in word, excel and power point in an added advantage
  • Management and Leadership skill
  • Pleasant interpersonal skills
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills
