Underground Mining Alliance Ltd. (“UMA”) is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine.

Job Description

UMA is seeking to employ qualified, experienced, and motivated Air Condition Technicians to join our Electrical Team. This is Obuasi based Fixed Term position with a competitive work roster at its operations in Obuasi. The remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidates.

Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for all preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on all Air conditioners and general power and lighting as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-start checks, Check-Mate, SWICs, SLAM etc.
  • Ensures inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.
  • Ensures all tools are serviceable and safe in condition.
  • Ensure all tasks are done in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintains a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Liaises with the Camp Manager for repairs and service of equipment at Camp
  • Advise when equipment is out of service.
  • Carries out scheduled air conditioning services and repairs in a safe manner.
  • Carries out all repairs in accordance with UMA procedures, standards, instructions, and regulations.
  • Maintains a high level of housekeeping in the working areas at all times.
  • Read and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
  • Advise immediate supervisor of parts used and any additional part requirements.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must possess a Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Refrigeration from a recognized University
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience working in a Hard Rock Underground Mine
  • Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana.
  • Must possess valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and be able to drive underground.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage with operational and non-operational employees with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a good understanding of maintenance and service procedures
  • Must be able to work in a cross-cultural environment and learn new tasks quickly
  • Ability to work under pressure and have the desire to achieve
  • Must have a strong focus on safety and hazard identification.
  • Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work ethics
  • Ability to work both day and night.
  • Ability to read schematics diagram
  • Ability to operate all hand tools
